Résumé

The concept of sustainability can be formulated as the search for a stable ecosystemic balance. The manager has an arsenal of legal measures at his disposal, and mathematical models can be used to analyze their performance. Mathematical modeling in fisheries management has undergone significant theoretical development. Looking over basic fishery models of the literature, it appears three main conceptual frameworks to analyze the sustainability. Maximum sustainable yield, optimal equilibrium then viability.  that its application is a process in continuous progress, knowing that the potential of mathematical theory remains under used. For instance, the introduction of the recent development of « game theory » into the modeling of this issue should be helpful. Illustrating therefore the previously stated thesis that the more the assumptions are realistic, the more sophisticated mathematical tools are needed.
